Hedonism and Humility
Hedonism
James 4:1-12
Every day I see something I want. I walk through the neighbourhood and I want that car, that yard, that house with the wraparound balcony. I want to look like that, have a boat like that, go to the movies more and don’t even get me started on all the board games I want to play. But boy oh boy do all these wants get me into trouble if I’m not careful!
My two sons seem to fight over toys frequently. I ask myself: “why can’t he just wait for his turn?” and the answer sometimes comes back from God “Because they have a heart problem, just like you do”.
But what could solve such a deeply rooted heart problem? How can we learn to be content when our hearts always seem to want more?
