Shepherd in the Wilderness
This Sunday we are in Mark 6 where Jesus feeds the 5,000. Picture Jesus, surrounded by the eager apostles, sought out by the needy crowds; there was no time to rest, relax, or even have a bite. Jesus had chosen some time of rest for himself and for the apostles; yet, when this doesn’t work out, he responds with compassion and invites His disciples to help meet the needs of the crowd. Jesus wants to be our shepherd, to invite us to rest with him, but that is not all! He always wants us to nourish others with the truth of who He is!
Will we allow the Shepherd to draw us out into the wilderness-place for rest, spirit-food, and a fresh renewal of his missional Spirit?
