Wash
John 13:1-17
Dirty jobs. We’ve all had them. Sometimes we do them because we get paid to, and sometimes we do them because something else is motivating us. Diapers need changing, bedpans need emptying, soiled clothes need scrubbing…. and dirty feet need cleaning. Those aren’t done for financial gain, so our drive to do them has to come from elsewhere.
Jesus wasn’t above doing the dirty job of cleaning feet, but as he did that for his disciples, he taught them so much more. What would compel the Son of God to take on the role of a foot washer? What does he want us to know as a result?
