2023 Renovations Begin
The Next Steps 2023 facility improvement project launched this week. Approval was granted by our membership at the AGM on April 2, 2023. The project leader is Bernie Pankonin, our former Trustee.
Bernie says he is happy to volunteer his time to lead and perform much of the renovation work, and that he is very appreciative of those who have stepped up to serve.
The first phase of the project sees the former Kids Ministry storage room dismantled, with shelving and cabinets relocated to the east end of the second floor hallway. This storage space now merges with the former technical control room to form a larger and more accessible auxiliary classroom. Discussions continue about a future location for nursery usage on Sundays.
Next up is untangling a monstrous array of video and digital wiring from projects of the past. Work has also begun to install a kitchenette in the new Youth Room in the east wing.
Seed funding for this project has been allocated by the Board, allowing to project to begin right away. Details on the capital campaign to raise the remaining funds needed will come next month. But you can make a tax-deductible donation now by designating “Next Steps 2023” through your additional giving.
At the request of the Board, the Next Steps 2023 project was developed by the Facility Stewardship Team to address facility usage conflicts, increase multi-purpose usage throughout the building, and consolidate staff work spaces. The plan is to complete all of these improvements before the end of 2023.
